Archaeology Fun Day
Celebrate Festival of Archaeology fortnight at Oystermouth Castle
We will be learning about the legendary tale of how Swansea's medieval 'Hanged Man' William Cragh was hanged twice for his crimes in 1290 and miraculously came back to life, through a series of storytelling sessions with Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust.
The GGAT Team will also be brewing up some genuine medieval invalid recipes, which could have been used to aid Cragh's recovery.
Heritage Metal Detecting Club Swansea will also be on hand to share their specialist skills and some local finds!
Got a mystery object stashed away? Dig it out and bring it along - we'll have archaeological expert and one of our Friends Steve Sell on hand to help identify your finds!
Guided tours of the Castle will be available throughout the day - tour times to be confirmed.
